Now before we say anything about this Sea Day, I just want to comment on the picture at the beginning of this post. Every day, we send some photos to our grandchildren. For several previous days, we have had the chance to share pictures of our game drives with them. This photo shows Mikey, Sarah and Andy looking at one of the the ones we sent. Daddy put the pictures up on their huge television so they could see them better, and Mommy took this picture of them. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this picture, and how seeing them like this makes Cathy and I miss them so-o-o- much. And Karl’s mom has been regaling us with the fascinating comments that he comes out with with each installment. This is yet more evidence, as if any were needed, that being a grandparent is the very best job in the world.
Okay, I just needed to show everybody that picture. Back to the ship. Today, we actually did do something different. Today we attended Brunch in the Grand dining Room. This event only takes place every few weeks, but it is really something. We were going to eat with Kari and Larry, but that plan went awry. But luckily, we got in line just as Barbara and Brian and Pat were going in, so we joined them.
In a previous post, Cath went into a very detailed description of all that was offered, so I won’t do that. We did learn recently that it takes two full days for the kitchen staff to prepare everything including the table centerpieces and ice carvings and other decorations, and that is besides the mountain of food. We started at noon and, because the company was so good as well as the food, we stayed until 2pm. Very fun.
Okay, since we are talking about food consumption, we also ate dinner with Barbara, Brian and Pat that evening. The food was phenomenal as usual. These were all “culinary experiences” with Asian dishes, and we all experimented with something.
You should think we would weigh three hundred pounds each the way we talk so much about the food. Fortunately, we are exercising enough self-discipline to prevent that from happening, and, thank God, the portions that are served are sensible.
So that’s about it for today. Gosh, we miss those kids…..
